1. DO YOU HAVE TIME?
Building and designing a custom home requires much more energy, patience and time than buying an existing home or a project home. A great deal of your life will probably revolve around your build!
But ultimately, all of the decisions will have been yours; working cohesively in developing the perfect sanctuary for you and your lifestyle.
2. DO YOU HAVE YOUR FINANCES SORTED?
When building a home there are always going to be some extra expenses or delays throughout the process, at one point or another.
That is why it is important to be aware of time gaps between approvals, contracts and building processes, meaning there could be potential for prices to have increased for materials and contractors.
Ensure you are realistic in what you can afford. Allowing for some wiggle room to also work within your budget, will assist in easily navigating any variations or bumps in the road you may experience.
3. DO YOU KNOW YOUR WANTS AND NEEDS?
Before starting the building process sit down and discuss a list for your wants and needs. pick out your hero items and must haves with a list of things that are really important to you at the start the build. Pick areas that you know will be used often and are most important to you (and these differ for everyone!)

Remember you will be spending a lot of time collaborating together, so you need to be comfortable and confident in your decision. Ensure you have thoroughly researched builders within your area that are professional, reputable, and transparent. This will contribute to making the home building process a positive one; providing the best quality finish.
